Gifford Construction’s 'The Futurecraft Home' designed by Frank L. Hope & Associates, with John Mock as designer, in partnership with Chambers Steel Co. has been noted as San Diego's first steel house.

This, the first light-steel house constructed in San Diego County, was published in San Diego & Point Magazine in March 1959. As a young architect, John R. Mock, served as the Hope firm's staff member who led the design. The home, held open to the public, garnered significant press attention and visitors.

The house is located at 4196 Eastridge Drive in La Mesa.
