At the time of this writing only two San Diego County projects are known - City Bank of San Diego and Fed Mart Cafeteria. Both projects were photographed by Julius Shulman in 1964.

Architect Carl Maston was born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 17, 1915 to an Italian father and English mother. Maston worked primarily in the Los Angeles area earning his FAIA status in 1968.

Maston received his Bachelors degree in Architecture from USC in 1937 having worked as a draftsman for Gordon B. Kaufmann (1936) and Allan Siple (1937) at the time of undergraduate work. Not long after graduation he worked as a designer for Ulysses Floyd Rible (1938-40) and Rowland Crawford (1941) as well as with A. Quincy Jones, Fred Emmons, Phil Daniel and Allied Architects. After serving in World War II, he returned to Los Angeles and opened his first office - Carl Maston, Architect - in 1946 in Beverly Hills.

Maston secured an award from the AIA (in 1955) for his National Boulevard Apartments project as well as honors from Progressive Architecture, in 1956, for his Dunham House in Pasadena.

At the time of this writing only two San Diego County projects are known - City Bank of San Diego and Fed Mart Cafeteria. Both projects were photographed by Julius Shulman in 1964.

Carl Maston died on May 31, 1992 having designed over 100 buildings.
