Hal Case Whittemore was born on November 26, 1920 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and served in US Navy aviation as Lieutenant Sr. Grade between 1941-45. He earned his B. Architecture at University of Michigan in 1950 ten years after he secured membership in the Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society (1940).
By 1955 he had moved to California and joined the AIA Southern California Chapter. From 855 Via De La Paz in Pacific Palisades, he ran Hal C. Whittemore & Associates between 1955-60. Between 1960-62 he worked under the partnership of Whittemore & Pittam, AIA, Architects. By 1970 he was living at 607 Muskingum Avenue in Pacific Palisades and returned to practicing as Hal C. Whittemore & Associates.
Whittemore was last noted as still living in 2018 in his sister's obituary.
