Herluf Jensen Brydegaard

Architect | 1915 - 1960

Architect Herluf Brydegaard died young (at age 45, in 1960) but was here long enough to leave a legacy of designs and mentorship.

Nationally recognized for his school designs, Brydegaard was born in Svendborg, Denmark and educated at University of Odense among other European schools.

Arriving in the US in 1940, and San Diego by 1942, Herluf found work initially as a draftsman for Kistner, Curtis & Wright. He married Marguerite Nordahl, an Associate Professor of Education at San Diego State College, in 1942 in La Mesa and established his office in 1947.
