James Francis Weber
Architect | 1931 - 2025
As a sole practitioner and partner in Weber & Edwards, James Edwards produced a significant body of work through the 1960s.

James Weber was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 14, 1931 and secured his B.Arch from Ohio State University in 1954. Between 1954-57 he worked for Richard G. Wheeler, AIA. He joined the AIA San Diego Chapter in 1957 and launched James F. Weber & Associates.
By 1962, Weber had established Weber & Associates in Pacific Beach. The firm Weber & Edwards (with Robert Edwards) ran concurrent with that firm – between 1963-1989. In 1966, it was announced that Weber & Edwards headed up the architectural division of Golf Course Inns of America.
According to his obituary, "Jim enjoyed a long and successful career building custom homes in La Jolla, apartment buildings and offices in Pacific Beach and throughout San Diego. He completed the Carlsbad City Hall building in 1964, the First Baptist Church and the Oceanside Elks Lodge in 1966."

SOLD: Helmuth House by Weber & Edwards (1967)
SOLD: Helmuth House by Weber & Edwards

First time on the public market, this Weber & Edwards home was designed and built as a spec house for Frank Helmuth. Helmuth sold the house upon its completion to Phillip and Harriet Bernstein (who only lived in the home for a short time). The home was occupied by its third owners, the Potter family, for decades.
