John Hartley
Photographer | 1915-2004John Hartley was a regional photographer that captured many of architect Sim Bruce Richards' built projects. His photos appeared in a wide array of publications including the Los Angeles Times HOME Magazine.
John Hartley was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1915 and graduated from Yale in 1937. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked many years as an architectural photographer – including capturing much of architect Sim Bruce Richards’ built projects. He lived in Laguna Beach in a home designed by Richards in 1969 with his wife Elizabeth, whom he married in 1954, and their children.
