Leland Swennes

Leland Swennes was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and arrived in San Diego, with his family, at the age of 3. He reportedly put himself through school by teaching art and giving private tennis lessons.

Swennes would teach art to high school students for much of his career. As a multimedia artists his whole life, he was quoted as saying, “Art is a way of life. I live in a handmade house surrounded by handmade furniture, ceramics, graphics, paintings, leaded glass, metal sculpture and fiber arts.”
